Our Story
Our commitment to triathlons is very personal indeed. Every one we do is a testimony to the physical drive and infectious spirit of a fourth brother, Chase. Chase was an avid cyclist, one of the three core disciplines of the triathlon. He was taken from our lives at age 20 on May 10, 2003, the victim of a single-car crash near Millington, Mich. Chase didn't simply live his life seeking to push himself further and further along the spectrum of athletic achievement. He wanted to give new life to others, specifically, by donating his organs. Isn't it ironic that the youngest and most active of the four brothers was the one who thought of such long-term plans, supposedly far, far in advance of when they'd be put into play?
But Chase's
moment came sooner than anyone could have imagined. As a result, seven people
received a life-saving organ, including his gift of a heart to Terry Gould, 55,
of Plymouth, Mich. Today, we are dedicating our lives to running triathlons in
Chase's memory and raising awareness for organ donations.
